Drive In mini review-One Click DVD imaging

This app really appeals to me. I actually like the idea of working with a DVD copying program that's on the "up and up", And, it produces complete imaged copies in the original resolution. The organization and ability to download artwork for each title, works well. Lots less demand on my Powerbook battery, too, as well as a cooler running machine. And it only takes about 15 minutes to image a complete DVD with all the extras. Compared to the hours of compression and burning with other covert apps, this is a big plus for me. And, even though I'm biased, Telestream continues to impress me....this is just the beginning of Drive In....plenty of ideas and features that can be added. They have demonstrated a loyalty to users of their products by listening, and implementing requested features. That's an advantage in my book....before DI, problems with rippers were just dead ends....no support there. The Front Row access is a bit of icing on the cake, too...you simply use DI to mount the disc's and then they are available in FR.
Seems like the future of DVD playback is now, with Drive In. With hard drive storage at it's most affordable price ever, it's a good time to create my movie library.

You know - this blog may be someplace I may have to stick around a bit, like your insight
Thanks for the comment. As I said, I'm kinda biased, but I am completely impressed by Telestream. Lots of the people there are friends I used to work with at Immix, Accom and Scitex, and they are all really super folks, but the big difference is management. Very down to earth and approachable. No airs of superiority or weird stuff goin on there. The VP, Barbara Dehart is brilliant and so pleasant to talk to. Great company that's headin up the ladder.
I am impressed with Telestream too. Discovered them because of flip4mac and drive-in looks great! Good UI. I only wish it could export for iPod video. That should be a perfectly legal time-shifting usage of my DVDs, right??
Good point Andrew....It would be a great feature to dump movies to the iPod via some export option on Drive In. I don't know what that means in terms of "rights management", but, knowing all the overboard attention it gets, there might be some brick walls in the way to getting authorization to do it. Does seem like it should be totally allowable....you own the disc....want it available on every media playback device in your posession. We'll have to see what eventually gets implemented into the final release.
